January 2003

Well the new year started off good, but it was hard to be good and keep on track. I missed seeing my leader and the motivation she and the group provide.

My first meeting for the new year was great. I felt charged again for the new week, and was surprised to lose 1 pound.  I have a goal to make 70 pounds gone by Christopher's birthday.  I was up this morning shortly after 6am to do my 30 minutes on my Gazelle.  I'm so glad I did it.  Here's to a great week!

UGH, I started out with good intentions, but again too many bites, licks and tastes that weren't journalled, plus I may have mis-calculated my exercise time on my Gazelle.  Time to start fresh again and re-weigh, re-measure and re-calculate my common foods.

Sunday, as I was making a muffin recipe I was given at my WW meeting by fellow members, I thought I'd check the points on it.  I was told that they were 1 point each, but when I calculated it out, it was 1.8 ... or rounding to 2 points each!! Double the points!! And when I look back on my journal, all my gains since the beginning of December were weeks when I made and ate these muffins, of course I was over my points when I redid the points for the days I ate them.

UGH!!

So from now on, I won't take any recipe point value unless it is calculated by WW.

Lesson learned!

Well my efforts paid off this week, I lost 2.2 pounds!!  Back on track again with some major education under my belt.  Double check the points on recipes received from others.

We were off in Ottawa on the weekend for the Alzheimer's Walk for Memories.  We had a great time.  I have uploaded a family picture to our web site.  My parents have come home with us for the week to help us celebrate Christopher's 7th birthday on Wednesday the 29th.  I can't believe my boy is 7.  And I had my weigh in tonight, the day before his birthday and I lost 1.4 pounds, for a total of 68.2 pounds now, almost back to where I was at the beginning of December.

January 31st I saw my family doctor for a checkup, and she was impressed with my loss, asked how I did it, and was glad it was WW.  We also discussed a goal, and she even said that I could set 180 as a goal and she'd be happy, but I wanted lower, so we finally agreed on 160.  But if I have a tough time approaching that as time goes on, we can re-evaluate it a bit higher if need be.

She was also impressed that I had done the Triathlon, and that I was doing it again.

February 2003

February has been an up and down month.  My first weigh in for February on the 4th was up 1.6 pounds, and I know why .... I was not writing down all those bites, licks and tastes.  Plus I was PMS, and in the week leading up to this weigh in I celebrated Christopher's 7th birthday with dinner out at Jack Astor's, then birthday cake, then the Saturday was the party, and cake again.  So I wasn't surprised I was up.  Oh well, in the grand scheme of things I'm down.  I have to focus on that.

My next weigh in on the 11th of February was down 0.6 and I was pleased, but I got too cocky with it and paid for it the next week's weigh in on the 18th when I was up 1.8.

I ordered myself a George Foreman Grill to replace the one Mum got me for Christmas, when I had looked closely at the one she got me I knew there was no way I'd be able to grill enough vegetables to satisfy me on WW, and the next size up one I wanted from Wal-Mart for $149 was out of stock, so when the Canadian Tire flyer came out with the super huge one for the same price, I ordered it.  It came on the 19th, great timing for the start of my next WW week!!

I love it, I've grilled zucchini, eggplant and mushrooms for a great combination.

Well had my last weigh in for February, and it was our TONNE party ... and I LOST 2.4 pounds!!!  YIPPEE!!  And we had tons of great food at our pot luck party.  Makes you inspired to try some new recipes.
