October 2002The start of my 9th month on program was an approach to 60 pounds lost. It was my first week in a new point range, and the adjustment was easier this time, as up to that range, I gradually ate more to the mid end of my as I approached ONEDERLAND. My diligence paid off, I hit the scales with a 1.2 pound loss, getting to 61 pounds gone since I started on program. Six pink 10 pound ribbons now!! :) My second weigh in for October was a 0.2 loss. I had a big non-scale thing on the weekend though, I went through my closet and tried on tons of fall/winter clothes and put aside all the stuff that didn't fit. WOW was that ever a lot of stuff. I can't believe how huge my clothes were. I'm anxious to go to Ottawa this weekend and raid Mum's non-fit pile!! My third weigh in for October was my post-Thanksgiving one. I had a great time raiding Mum's clothes. My sister-in-law also brought a bunch of stuff to Mum's for the church nearly new sale, and I took all but two outfits from that, so I came home from Thanksgiving with a ton of new to me clothes. We had a great weekend and I enjoyed my Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing. I also made the crustless pumpkin pie recipe from the Weight Watchers web site (see my new Recipes link). It was amazing!! David loved it too. AND .... my post Thanksgiving weight loss was 2.8 pounds!!!! :) I'm adjusting to my new point range quite well. It was easier than I thought. I even had someone at work not recognize me because she hadn't seen me since before I started WW. I'm finding it harder now to get in activity with the shorter days, and with David on shifts again. But I'm still losing ... 0.8 this week, for a total of 64.8 ... 0.2 away from 65! It seems so often that as you approach a milestone of any sort your body often holds off on a tiny bit. Many WW members at my meeting have had to wait another week because they were 0.2 shy of a goal, whether it be a 5 pound star, or a 10 pound ribbon, or 10% or whatever. Funny thing! I have my pile of clothes ready to take to a consignment shop on Saturday, I'm even getting rid of my good winter coat. I put it on over the weekend, had David hug me and I had it come to 6" from closing with the two of us!! Too big to alter! The week leading up to my last weigh in of the month ended very stressful. I'll start by saying we had a student move in with us in September, and in October, she moved her sister in. This was a "room for rent". It started on the 23rd by finding I had a huge phone bill, of which most of the charges were from the Tenants, for which they were only supposed to use my phone for local calls. Friday morning I go to the family room to get a DVD due back at the library, and I can't find it. So David and I look for it together, and we don't find it, but we do find that 4 other DVD's are missing, David's Matrix and Christopher's Monster's Inc., Peter Pan and Snow White. We asked the Tenant and her sister, and they denied. David tore the house apart Friday looking for them, but they were nowhere to be found. We asked again Friday night and Saturday morning, they had the nerve to accuse our babysitter! Saturday around mid-day we decided we wanted them to leave. I phoned our local police office to see whether or not we had the right to kick them out, and because they were sharing kitchen and bathroom privileges, we had the right. I explained the whole situation to the constable, and he told me I should ask them to leave because "I wasn't comfortable with the living situation in my own home", and to ask them to be out by 5pm Sunday. We wanted to talk to them together but they were never home at the same time as both David and I, so we told them that we wanted to talk to them 9am Sunday. Early Sunday morning around 6am or so I heard the front door lock from outside. Great ... somebody or both of them left. Around 8:30 am I am in the kitchen making breakfast, and I hear someone downstairs. Good someone is still here. At 9:00 I ask both of them to come up, the original tenant said her sister was at work, but she came up. We sat her down in the living room and told her what the police officer told us. She grumbled a bit, and said she'd call her sister. 20 minutes later the tenant's friend came to the house, and they both left shortly after that without saying a word. I didn't know if she left because she had to get moving supplies or what. I phoned her friends house and found she was gone to work and wouldn't be back until 7pm. I then phoned the sister at her work, and asked if she had talked to her sister, but no, she hadn't, so I informed her what was up. She griped. Sunday afternoon I spoke to the police officer again and he said if they refused to leave, or if I felt threatened in any way when they were leaving to give them a call. Finally shortly after 8pm, David was at work, the boys in bed, thank goodness for the time change, the girls finally arrived home with their friend. I called them both into the kitchen and asked them to pack and leave. They griped, and then went downstairs for a bit, so did I to do some laundry, then they left to get some bags and boxes. When they came back, I went downstairs again to fold and sort laundry, and the original girl swore at me, so I answered "OK" and went upstairs to call the police. I thought, there's three of them, 1 of me, with 2 sleeping kids, and if she's going to start to get verbally abusive to me, what's next. When the police finally arrived over 1.5 hours later, they were almost done. I was watching for them from the family room, and saw them arrive. I went outside, and the Tenant, her sister and friend had left with stuff, went jogging up to the police car. The officer got out of the car, and I told him I was the homeowner. He asked what the situation was, I explained, then he asked if she was done. She said yes, and "sorry to have wasted your time" to suck up. Then the officer said, it was OK because they get all kinds of calls like this in the course of an evening. Then she said to him, "I guess you do nothing at all then". Really smart, insult the officers! Then her sister arrived, and started getting mouthy to the officers. They were escorted back into the house for one more look, and the sister continued to mouth off to the officer! He warned her to stop. And finally they left. It was over. So ... we lost 5 DVD's in the process, plus when they left they took a couple of our dishes, and the remote for our VCR. GRRRRR ... So ... relieved to sleep the next couple nights, and off to my weigh in Tuesday. At which I lost 2.2 pounds, for a grand total now of 67 pounds. YIPPEE!! November 2002Well the first weigh in for my 10th month on program was a gain. I wasn't surprised, with the stress of the week before, and a big case of the stress munchies, I had a gain. 2 pounds up. Only my 5th gain since February ... I'm OK with that. I lost almost all of my gain for my second weigh in. As I went to the scale, instinct told me to take off my sweater, and I'm glad I did. When I weighed in I lost 1.6 pounds, and as I got of the scale, I put my sweater on and it weighed ... believe it or not, 1.6 pounds!! I'm in the middle of the weekend approaching my 3rd weigh in for November. I've been experiencing a big case of the PMS munchies again ... lots of BLT's (Bites, Licks & Tastes) not being recorded, so we shall see what happens on the scale on Tuesday. It's now Saturday night and I took the kids to see our local Santa Clause parade tonight, it was FREEZING COLD and SNOWING, so we were both cold and wet. The kids were crusty, Mum was stressed out ... UGH. Next year I am not doing it without David. It was very hard, both kids were WHINY big time. I've got a lot of mini-goals coming up, 2.4 pounds to my 3rd 10% loss, another 3.6 pounds to 70 pounds, then, 5 pounds after that 70 to 75 pounds. I hope to have my 3rd 10% within the next 2-3 weeks. Well ... the munchies and bloating caused a 1.2 gain this week. Oh well ... considering how well I've done to date, I'm not stressed about it. In order to help motivate myself, I've signed up for WeightWatchers.ca E-Tools ... so I can record all those BLT's wherever I am, at work, home or at Mum's. It's been a tough BLT week again ... and I need motivation to get exercising again. It's too cold for my lunch time walks now, and the exercise bicycle just doesn't cut it. I've been curious about the Tony Little Gazelle that I've seen advertised, and I spoke to my WW leader about it, as she has one, so I decided to buy it. It's been ordered, it should arrive sometime this week. Time to get active again. Well I had my WI on Tuesday and I LOST THREE MORE POUNDS!! I was thrilled. I even got to stay for the meeting. I had to take the boys because my sitter had a test, and they were great!!
