February 2002

Wednesday February 6th, 2002 was my first day on program.  Because I didn't have time for groceries the night before, I had to root through my cupboards to find things to have for my meals.

At 259.2 pounds my point range was 28-33, which gave me a lot of leeway for what I was to eat my first day.  Luckily I had a lot of pretty good food choices in my cupboards and fridge to make my first day a good one.

Wednesday night I took my WW kit and armed with my point calculator went to the grocery store to do my first on program shopping trip.  It took forever because I had to calculate out everything I purchased.

I also did some checking out YahooGroups and signed up for way too many groups to see if I could find one that had what I needed, a combination of support, motivation and recipes and new ideas.  As time went on I unsubscribed to some, remain a lurker on most, but my main group is:

http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/WeightWatchers123_Recipes-PLUS

This group is terrific, and is a big part of my weight loss success, along with my Tuesday night WW meeting.

The first week continues on and I manage quite well to stay on program, even satisfying some of my cravings, but staying within points.

Monday night I baked some Low Fat Yogurt Muffins to take to the Tonne Party at my WW meeting on Tuesday night.  Armed with my good feeling about my first week and my muffins, I went off to my first "see what I lost" weigh in ... and I lost 7.2 pounds in my first week!!  I guess giving up Tim Horton's made a difference!

This first loss and the party was got me pumped for the start of my second week, armed with new recipes from the party, off I went.  As the week progressed, I got into converting my old favourite recipes into Points.

My next weigh in I lost 2.6 pounds and that blew me away, I was 0.2 pounds away from 10 pounds in 2 weeks!  With this weigh in entered a new point range of 26 to 31.  I pulled out an old WW recipe that I loved when I did the program years ago and made up a double batch of Peanut Butter Bars.  I made a double batch which got 32 squares at 2.7 points each.  Within six days, they were all gone and I had only had 6 and the kids only had 3, so that meant my husband ate 23 of them at 2.7 points each it made 62 points which equals 3.9 pounds of chicken he consumed in those 6 days.  Boy did I ever give him heck for this!

Into my third week on program I managed to have no problem adjusting to the new point range, it was easy because I'd only been on the other one for 2 weeks.  My next weigh in gave me a 2.2 pound loss and gave me my 10 pound pink ribbon!  I never realized a pink ribbon would mean so much!!

By my fourth week I was really into the swing of things, I was beginning to learn the points for common foods, and I finally had my breakfast routine figured out.  I found if I ate a bowl of cereal with milk at home, then went to work, by the time 10:00 rolled around I was starving and could eat almost anything.  So I started baking regularly my Low Fat Yogurt Muffins with blueberries in it and taking 2 to work and eating them around 10:00.  In order to fill my stomach before that time I drank water on the drive to work, plus drinking more when I got to work.

March 6 - It was 6:50 pm, I was getting the kids ready for the babysitter.  She was due at 7:00 pm, at 7:10 still no sign of her.  I called her home, no answer, looked out our back window (her house is behind us), and it is in darkness.  I left a message.

Finally around 7:30 pm, still no sitter, I decided to bundle up the kids and go and weigh in.  The kids were in their PJ's so I put their snow suits on and off we went.

My weigh in for the end of my fourth week on program was a 2 pound loss, and a total of 14 pounds in 4 weeks!!  I was thrilled.  I really missed staying for the meeting, and really needed my internet list for motivation.

March 2002

After four weeks on program, my clothes are starting to feel looser, it's so great!  This charged me even further to continue on ... I made a long term goal to make it to my goal this time and to maintain it.

My next weigh in was a 1 pound loss, making 15 pounds gone in 5 weeks.  I was so glad I got to stay for the meeting, it makes a difference!

Part of our discussion for this meeting was eating the points in your range, and I decided to try and eat a bit higher in my range and bank less points, by the end of the past week I had 21 points banked, not including exercise points.

My March 19th weigh in was a good one ...  for the end of week 6 on program I lost 4.2 pounds!!  19.2 pounds in 6 weeks, 0.8 pounds away from 20 pound and my second pink ribbon!

I ate lots of food this past week and kept much closer to the maximum end of my point range, instead of at the lower end as I did the week before.  So the moral of that story is EAT MORE, IT HELPS TO DROP POUNDS!

For my last weigh in for the month of March, I needed 0.8 pounds to reach to reach 20 pounds and my second pink ribbon, and that's exactly what I lost!!  And it was TOM time, so I was thrilled to lose!
